C.K. Pandiyarajan wrapped up his thesis

C.K. Pandiyarajan - aka Pandi - has successfully defended his PhD thesis on poly (alkyl acrylamide) coatings and their interaction with blood components.

Pandi's studies on the hemocompatibility of this homologous series of hydrogel coatings revealed a clear relation between blood protein adsorption and the swelling properties of the coatings. All gels with significant water uptake did successfully repel the proteins either via size exclusion or entropic shielding. His results have by now led to a paper which just appeared on Macromolecular Bioscience.

Pandi is now on his way to join Jan Genzer's group as NCSU, Raleigh for a postdoctoral appointment.
