Dr. Karen Lienkamp

karen-lienkamp.jpgKaren Lienkamp studied Chemistry at the University of Cambridge/UK, and the Freie Universität Berlin/Germany. She then joined Prof. Gerhard Wegner’s laboratory at the Max-Planck-Institute for Polymer Research (MPI-P) in Mainz/Germany and received her Ph.D. from the University of Mainz in 2006. She stayed at MPI-P until 2007 as a project leader for an industrial collaboration. From 2007-2010, she worked as a PostDoc in Prof. Gregory N. Tew’s lab at the University of Massachusetts Amherst, MA, USA. She returned to Germany in 2010 and started an independent research group at IMTEK, which is focusing on the synthesis and characterization of precision polymers, especially for biomedical applications.

She has received numerous competitive scholarships from various organizations, including the German National Academic Foundation (Studienstiftung des Deutschen Volkes), Funds of the German Chemical Industry, The Medical Foundation, the German Research Foundation (DFG), and the European Research Council. Karen Lienkamp was awarded an Emmy Noether grant of the DFG (12/2010) and an ERC Starting Grant (05/2015).
